I am often asked if it is possible to make a fast car a day before a race. My answer is YES! Now, please don’t say that I am suggesting you wait that long before building your car but…it happens!
I developed a plan for what I call the 45-Minute Car This car can be made in less than an hour with the proper tools. Of course, you still have to prep the axles and wheels like my Tips Booklet suggests but it can go from box to track in under an hour…including a beautiful finish. Secret: Duct Tape.
Duct tape is the perfect last minute finish to your car. It almost exactly the width of your Pinewood Derby car at 1.88″. It comes in many patterns that can really dress up your car if you don’t have time or the skills to give it a good finish. The car below was made in under an hour and was ready to race. The scout used Flame duct tape for the top and used a black Sharpie pen to color the sides. BTW, it was the Pack champion.
So, if you caught by surprise by the race coming up faster than you thought, you can still do it. Any questions? You can email me.
