I have been involved with Pinewood Derby since I was a Cub Scout. To give you an idea how long ago that was, my first car was made in 1959. One of my first cars is pictured at left. Since then, I have built or consulted on over a 1000 cars applying many tips I have learned on what makes a fast car. Sharing my knowledge, I have spoken at numerous Cub Scout meetings and Pinewood Derby workshops in the Chicago area.
I view this website as an opportunity to further share my knowledge and also answer questions that you might have about tools, resources for supplies, suppliers, and of course……what tips make for a fast car.
If you have never been in or heard of the Pinewood Derby, there is great movie called Down and Derby. It’s a comedy about how people (Dads) can get a little carried away with those little wood cars. You might want to rent it or watch it on Netflix. Below is a video of some of the clips.
